Two "Dreams" Come True in Bora
Monday, July 30, 2007When I was in the third grade, I had a skateboard. I was pretty good at it but, nothing close to great.
During my early adult years, I tried surfing once in Baler, Aurora. I couldn’t get up on the board. I couldn’t even get both feet up on the board without crashing back down in the ocean water. It was scary being up in the air with the water so far below.
About two years ago, I discovered the existence of the skim board. I googled for information and pictures. And I thought, "I could do that." It didn’t seem too difficult. All you need is about half an inch of sea water and you surf on the sand itself and not out in the ocean, high above the waves. So I went out in search of a skim board at all the local mall-based sports shops. I couldn’t find any. Not even one. They sold wake boards, paddle boards, kayaks, skateboards, surf boards even. But no skim boards.
Our "Great" Adventures and One Big Mistake
The next morning (Thursday, July 26), we woke up later than planned. We ate our breakfast at the hotel and then went off to seek some adventures.
Dad and Tito Armand decided to stay in and just watch TV in their hotel rooms. (What a waste! Hehe.)
Michelle, Yayi, and I decided to head out to find kayaks to rent. We rented three at Sand Castles. Cost us P150 per hour each.

We were going to head off and row ourselves to Station 1 but, Michelle didn't quite know how to row so we stuck around the area. I rode off alone later and circled a boat.

|
Our muscles ached after one hour of rowing! Especially mine since I rowed straight through the hour!
Our big mistake was to rent a Flyfish boat after one full hour of kayaking. BIG MISTAKE!
|
|
We put on lifevests. I put on my goggles (since I wear contact lenses). We headed off into sea laughing and smiling thinking how cool it is to be bouncing around on a Flyfish boat. We didn't anticipate what was coming.
|
|
As the boat turned and headed against the wind, it began picking up speed. As it did so, the Flyboat went up to a 90 degree angle! And we had to cling on with our aching hands and arms and shaking legs! I was at the left side; Michelle was at the middle; Yayi was at the right side. The middle allows you to step on both sides. On the left and right sides however, only one foot gets to step on the Flyfish boat.
So there I was, clinging on with barely any strength left. The kayaking zapped up all my energy. Left my arms painfully aching, too. My left leg was slipping further and further down and I couldn't hold it up. I had to decide. I was thinking that if I clung on and my left left fell all the more, then I'd be left with my hands just clinging on and it would be even more "dangerous" for me to hold on thinking I might twist my body up or something. So I decided to just leg go . . .
As I hit the water, I tumbled around several times. In the process, my goggles came off. I'm not sure if I was able to close my eyes or not. After a while, I'm sure I did. Good thing I didn't lose my goggles. I lost my left eye's contact lens however.
I was hauled up the boat and I then asked Yayi to check my eyes, especially the one that lost the contact lens. It had a red spot of blood on the white portion. Not a good sign. It wasn't hurting so I decided it was still all right to finish the ride.
We began our second round. This time, I got to sit in the middle, exchanging seats with Michelle. This time around, I was able to remain on board. It was Michelle's turn to fall off.

|
We fished her out and rested a bit on the boat.

Flyfishing looks real fun as we watched it happening safely from the shore. I wasn't having too much fun doing it. I got a bit dizzy just staring at the yellow rubber that was right in front of my face when the Flyfish was at a 90-degree angle. I had to turn my head either to the left or to the right to get a glimpse of the ocean but, that got me dizzy even more.
We had one more round after Michelle's fall and we requested the boat driver to go slower and angle the Flyfish less than 90 degrees. That round was safe and fun. Haha. No one fell off.
We had a few more shots taken before we got off the Flyfish.
|
|
Then we headed back to the hotel to eat the lunch we needed. We were all weak and famished.
The Flyfish cost us P350 each.
Boracay looked only half pretty with only my right eye giving me 20/20 vision.

A New Way to "Pick Up" a Guy
I'm back home in Manila now. Been here since Friday night. I went online again the next night, our second night in Bora, but I didn't get to go blogging. I merely uploaded the pictures I took with my digital camera to my flash drive and then checked on my accounts.
This is a continuation of where I left off in my previous blog (Havin' a Ball in Bora).
Havin’ a Ball in Bora!
Wednesday, July 25, 2007I'm in Boracay now!
I set my alarm clock to ring at 5:00 AM so I could make it to Pasay by 6:30AM. Well, it rang. But I was dreaming and I instinctively turned it off (I was dreaming in that my alarm clock was ringing and I switched it off there, too) and went right back to sleep. The short of it is, I was late! I picked up my sister Lizette along España (corner of P. Campo; she was inside McDonald's) at 7:00AM! Got to Pasay at around 7:50. Got to the airport by 8:00 (thereabouts).
The Weather According to PAG-ASA
Tuesday, July 24, 2007Hmmm. Seems like there's a low pressure area approaching the country from the southeast. Oh, I hope it doesn't bring in much rain and I hope it doesn't turn into a typhoon!

Leaving on a Jetplane
My classmates and professor all left for Bangkok, Thailand today to attend the Bangkok International Film Festival. Bobby, Neva and I didn't get to join. Too bad. But then I believe that for every seemingly good thing you miss, God sends something even better your way . . . .
When Confusion Kicks In
I found this interesting artwork on the net today. The artist is a professional cartoonist and an "unprofessional" blogger. Haha. Nice! I like!
I Need Help Finding Jesus In Your Heart!
Monday, July 23, 2007I've got the lyrics and the guitar tabs. Please help me find an MP3 of this song! It's one of my all-time favorite contemporary Christian song. Thanks!
Jesus in Your Heart
D A Bm Em A A7
If I could have one wish, I know just what I’d like to find
D A Bm Em
If I could have one dream come true before my eyes
G D G A F#m Bm
More than a pot of gold, more than a pathway to the stars
G Em A D
More than anything I know, I want Jesus in your heart
If I could paint a picture in my mind of what I’d like to see
If I could take you once inside my deepest dreams
More than a treasure’s glow, more than a comet traveling far
More than anything I know, I want Jesus in your heart
Bm E A
He’s more than all the world can give
Bm G A
When He truly comes to live in your heart
Bm E A
Why do you try to search for more
Bm G A
When He’s what you’re looking for in your heart?
So if I could have one wish I know just what I’d like to find
If I could have one dream come true before my eyes
More than a pot of gold, more than a pathway to the stars
More then anything I know, I want Jesus…
F#m G
I pray you’ll find Jesus,

I want Jesus in your heart

On Why I Play the Harmonica
My mom made me take piano lessons all the way back to around my first grade of elementary. I never became as good as my sister, Bobi. Not even one-fourth as good as her probably.
How would I be any good? Back then, I'd have my lessons and the teacher would be seated beside me and I would fall asleep right then and there as I was having my piano lessons! I was also too lazy to practice on my own.
