Wanders on a Saturday Night

Events

I was out last night with Boo (Andrea Ysabel Escasa, A.K.A. Anya), Ma, and Dad. We went to watch WANDERS at the PAGCOR Grand Theater, Airport Casino, in Parañaque City.

The best thing I liked about it was that we got to watch it for free! That's right! All four of us, 100% F-R-E-E! All thanks to my classmates and PAGCOR employees, Sir Bobby Reyes and Cecile Evangelista. (Our other classmates and professor all got free tickets too.)

The second best thing I liked about it was the free food after the show at one of their in-house resto.  : )

Going to the show itself, it was G-R-E-A-T! And I'm not just saying that as some sort of "thank you" to Sir Bobby and Cecile. It really was great! It was a wonderful show which showcased talents from China, Russia, and the Philippines.

Good thing my stiff neck is gone; else I'd have had trouble twisting it all around just to see everything that went on in the theater! Things didn't just happen on stage, you know! You'd suddenly see people hanging down from different parts of the theater's ceiling all twisting around and stuff.

There were really cool Chinese acrobats. The little girls were soooooooooooo super duper elastic that I almost thought they didn't have any  bones in their bodies! I was also thinking that one wrong move would lead them to break their necks and to a most painful death. There were muscled guys doing various acrobatic stunts. Some of them were quite cute, too.

There's eye candy for both the guys and gals! For the guys, there were sexy female Russian dancers. For the gals, there were the male Chinese acrobats and the Manoeuvres (which I only found out after the show when Cecile told me so!

I'm glad that I didn't get to see the one with Martin Nievera in it.

Anyway, the show will run for a couple more months. Go watch it with your family and friends! It's worth watching!

THANKS AGAIN TO SIR BOBBY AND CECILE FOR THE FREE TICKETS AND FOOD!

Here are a few things I caught online written about the show by various writers:

WANDERS is a one-of-a-kind musical extravaganza that top bills our best homegrown talents in the entertainment scene. It showcases world-class Filipino performers who are out to captivate audiences with soulful renditions of timeless classics and vibrant dance numbers. A fusion of cultures, the show also highlights gravity-defying aerial acrobatics and stunning displays of skills by flamboyant performers from China and Russia.

Scintillating, electrifying and utterly captivating! This is the dynamic spectacle of "Wanders," a one-of-a-kind extravaganza that is poised to revolutionize the local entertainment scene. A key project of Pagcor, "Wanders" is a visual and aural treat which enchants audiences with gravity defying aerial acrobatics, stunning displays of skill and physical prowess, soulful renditions of timeless classics and vibrant dance numbers

"Wanders was conceptualized and produced—not by a London—or New York-based theater company, but by Filipinos with a vision. We no longer relied on foreigners for their ideas and expertise but collaborate with other creative minds in the region to develop a show that is truly world-class," said Pagcor Chairman and CEO Efraim Genuino, the visionary behind this mammoth undertaking.

Trained in ballet and jazz dance, the Russian dancers in "Wanders" hail from Moscow and Belarus. Dazzling the audience with their exquisite moves and stunning costumes, they perform to the beat of a live band and in tandem with local stage and singing stars Nonie Buencamino, Calvin Milado and Frenchie Dy. Adding pizzazz to the stage are top Philippine dance groups Whiplash, Hotleggs and the Manoeuvres.

The Chinese acrobats, on the other hand, were handpicked from various troupes in the Henan province of China, considered the breeding ground of the world's top gymnastic performers. In addition, the ensemble also boasts three contortionist girls aged 9 to 13 who are considered the crowd favorites.

"Wanders," with 100 performers and a crew of 500, will be staged Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for the next six months.

ang galing nga! my three year old niece was too overwhelmed with the show that she didn’t know how to tell her mom about it. but we did find her “attempting” some “acrobatics” even days after the show.
