Lessons from Kayaking and What the World Needs Now

These lessons came to my mind as I was out in Boracay kayaking for one hour.

Lesson 1: It's hard to paddle against the current.

Lesson 2: It's much, much easier to paddle in the same direction that the current is flowing.

Lesson 3: If you allow yourself to just go with the current, you'll probably end up either in the middle of the ocean, or far, far away from your intended destination.

Isn't it the same in life? Doing the right thing may not always be what the majority is doing. Thus, it may be harder to do what's right. Doing what everyone else does is always easier. Yes, even the wrong things. But, if you just go with the flow and do what everyone else does then you're likely to get lost and miss out on the best things that life has to offer you.

It takes courage to stand up for the right. That's what the world needs now (aside from love, of course)–men and women "who cannot be bought nor sold; who will stand for the right though the heavens fall." (Ellen G. White)

Rainy Days and Tuesdays

I hate rainy days.

I hate dark and dreary days.

Yesterday, I was supposed to go out. One was to Gilmore, to my former employer, to get something. The second one was to Gateway Mall in Araneta Center to watch a movie with my classmate. Both postponed. I'm too lazy to go out on a stormy, stormy day.

Today, it's been raining hogs and hounds since early morning. I still don't feel like going out but, I have no choice this time. I've got a class tonight at Greenhills. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Ay-yay-yay.

Here's the weather synopsis from PAG-ASA:

At 2:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "Chedeng" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 555 kms east northeast of Basco, Batanes (22.0°N, 127.5°E). With maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph. Meanwhile, an Active Low Pressure Area (ALPA) was estimated at 440 kms east northeast of Bicol region (14.5°N, 128.5°E).

On Visits to M.E. Blogs

When I started blogging here last February, I got a total of 124 visitors for the month.

The next month, my monthly visitors totaled 873.

In April, 1185.

May, 2163.

In June, there was a slight decline to 1959, which was probably due to the fact that we had no telephone line and DSL (thanks to PLDT again!) for the entire month and therefore, I didn't do much blogging that month.

I came back with a "vengeance" last July after finally getting a DSL (albeit super slow) connection. There was a total of 7,277 visitors to my blogs.

It is now the 7th day of August and to date, I've already had 2,304 visits.

I'm just sharing this since I'm personally amazed that people actually do visit my blogs and perhaps even read my postings. Amazing!

I hope that means I'm writing sensible stuff which are worth reading. Stuff which may be somewhat narcissistic in approach, however, are actually not. Stuff that entertains, uplifts, and perhaps even educate people. And I hope that means my being a non-writer is not an issue at all and can be overlooked.

Gagging on Martin

http://www.starrystarry.com/display_photos.asp?ItemCode=R011001400I mentioned in my "Wanders on a Saturday Night" blog that I was glad Martin Nievera wasn't the one performing on the night that I watched the show.

I really don't like seeing the guy. I just like hearing him sing, after all, he does have a beautiful voice.

His face and antics irritate me, especially all his rants and raves about Pops, his other-woman-turned-wife Katrina, and his "new" child with her. It's not my habit to talk nasty about anybody but, he's just too much. I can't help myself this time.

I think he should just shut up completely. For good, hopefully. I mean, the nerve of the guy! To have a mistress; ruin his marriage (to Pops); marry the mistress; have a child with her; and then, ask his ORIGINAL wife to be its godmother! What an insensitive jerk!

http://www.pep.ph/images/news/6bddcae7b.jpg
And hearing all those comments he made about Pops trying to find her own happiness with some other guys just proves further that the guy is such a selfish, narcissistic, psychologically incapacitated weakling of a fellow.

If Martin can't love Pops the way she ought to be loved, then he ought to just leave her alone to live her life the way she sees fit to live it. Wrong or right, he has no right to say anything about it anymore and no right whatsoever to judge her either.

True, she shares children with him. Who the heck cares?! He should remember that he's the one who committed adultery! He's the one who cheated on his wife and kids! He's the one who ruined a marriage and family! Not Pops.

Live and let live, dude! No one's world revolves around yours!

The Beauty That Is AURORA

http://www.baler-aurora.gov.ph/image/aurora_seal.jpg

When I ask Filipinos I meet if they know of AURORA Province, they say they do. And then they add, "That's in Quezon, right?" This, of course, goes to show just how little they know of Aurora.
