Lost in Transition

Thursday, September 13, 2007

I had been trying to get my church membership transferred several times and at several different churches the past 12 years. Now, I think it's lost.

Yesterday, I got in touch with the church clerk of my very first church and asked if my membership was still there. She asked me for a date. I had no idea. I just told her a year, 1980, thinking it was probably around that time when I was living in Baler, Aurora and got baptized.

She texted me a few minutes later. The year was correct. I found out that I was first baptized on November 15, 1980 by Pastor Victor Flauta, Sr. But, she also told me that my membership had already been transferred to Cavite years ago–all the way back to December 20, 1996.

So now I'm trying to find a way to reach the church clerk of Queens Row. So far my leads have resulted in dead ends. Even the church pastor doesn't have a cellphone. As I write this blog, I'm actually thinking of ways to find a link to her.

At least some light is beginning to reveal itself. I felt a little lost not knowing where my earthly church membership was, even if I was assured of my membership in heaven.

In a way, I guess I have double membership at Queens Row. I was rebaptized upon my request on my birthday, April 28, 2000 (not 100% sure on the year).

After Queens Row, I had requested for my membership to be transferred to Hillsview. I don't think it ever was transferred there.

Now, after a span of two years and several attempts, I'm going to request the current church clerk of Manila Center to transfer my membership there.

I think I finally need a church to call "my own" now.
