The Inevitable: Aging Happens!
Sunday, December 16, 2007Still in line with the 20th anniversary of The Princess Bride . . . .
I found the pictures of the movie's stars online. On the left hand is their picture at the time of the movie (1987); on the right is their picture now (20 years after).
Oh, well. Aging and gravity happen.
How to Live Without Sex (for a While)
Saturday, December 15, 2007One of my favorite speakers is Dwight K. Nelson. He clearly expounds on Bible truths, both the big and the small, without taking anything out of context. And without twisting the truth to form his own conclusions. It's all just plain Bible truth backed up by reliable references.
Here's an interesting video of an age-old topic that would all do us good. I hope you watch it.

Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want
Thursday, December 13, 2007I'm a long-time, big-time fan of The Princess Bride. Seriously. So grant me my Christmas wish and win this one for me. Pretty please!
Actually, I already have the VCD copy of the movie. But, like I said, I'm a fan and what's better than a special edition DVD, right? : )
I hope it shall be as I wish.

I’ve Been Hit!
Wednesday, December 12, 2007I've been cooped up in my room for the past two days. Sick with fever, colds, and a headache. Going hungry, yet too lazy and too dizzy to eat. It doesn't help that everything I eat tastes too salty for my liking.
Prior to getting sick, I was at the UERMMC caring for my confined grandma. (The same one who was confined last week at MAMC. Click THIS to read my post about it.) This time she was taken in for vomiting and diarrhea. I arrived at the hospital late last Saturday night, having come from Lipa City. I spent the night in full wakefulness, attending to my grandma's smallest of needs. I spent the entire day of Sunday lying down–supposedly catching up on sleep, yet unable to do so. The next night was spent the same way.
By Monday night, I was sick!
I really can't hack staying up all night . . . .
Please pray that my grandma and I get well soon.
Lyrics? What Lyrics?!
I found this on Tristan Cafe. It made me laugh.

Not Something to Laugh About
Friday, December 7, 2007My friend sent me a link saying that it's not a virus.
It may not be a virus, however, it's not very funny either.

December 8 Sabbath Plans
I'm off to Lipa City today with three friends. We're scheduled to take part in the Sabbath services of an Adventist church there tomorrow. We'll be doing a puppet show for the Children's Homily during the morning service, then another one during the afternoon worship service. My friend, Gigi, will be the Divine Hour of Worship speaker as well. In the afternoon, we'll be handling the entire program, too.
They also asked us to sing right before the sermon during the morning worship service but, that might be beyond our scope of God-given talents.
The Year of the "Pig"

This year is supposedly "the year of the Pig." And, astrologically speaking, I am what one would call a "Pig." (Not that I buy into astrology and all that stuff at all. That just seemed like a good intro for a blog.)
Well, the year has never really seemed like "my" year at all. Not until this month, anyway. So far, this month has been quite surreal. Like somehow, the year is "my year," after all–like it is trying to "prove" that it really is "the year of the Pig"–this "Pig," that is.
With the way things have been going for me this month, it just might be.
(Let me just repeat that I do not in any way whatsoever subscribe to astrology and horoscopes. I do not think that any Bible-enlightened and Bible-believing person would–nor should.)
All throughout the year, God has indeed been good to me and He had indeed sustained me through all the nicks and bruises each minute, hour, day, week, and month have brought. (and there were many this year). Yet somehow, it seems like He's reserved the last month of the year for the "best"–for unexpected blessings.
So far this month, I have received a brand new Compaq laptop, a new bed and mattress, two dandy blouses, two nicely-colored bath towels, two big boxes of Q-tips, plus a few other things (money, too) from two of my aunts. And I never even asked them for any of those things! Imagine my thankful surprise in having been on the receiving end of such blessings.
Let me clarify, in case you start thinking I am a materialistic person–for I am not one. To me, things simply are tools to be used for God's glory and honor, for my personal improvement, and for the well-being of my fellow men. However, I do not ordinarily get so many things (most of them quite hefty on the pocket, too) in such a short span of time–just out of the blue and all unasked for. Somehow, the physically material blessings I recently received have been God's way of loudly proclaiming that He has been, and still is, looking our for my well-being. That year of the Pig or no year of the Pig, His eye is on me, just as it has been on the sparrows. Maybe He just wants that extra loud and clear this time thinking that is what I need.
Whatever the reason, I am both thankful and grateful.
The Power of the Internet
Thursday, December 6, 2007Thirteen days ago, I posted this blog "Let's Help Her Win!" At that time, she didn't have too many votes.
Well, after sending out email, posting messages on Multiply, Friendster, MySpace, and my blog, she's now the winner of the People's Choice award ranking number 1 in the online poll. Not that I think it was all my doing. I'm sure Dudoy's persistence in voting for her numerous times daily played a part as well. Still, no one can deny the fact that seeking for help and getting the message across via the Internet did play a big part in her win.
Overall, she's also the second runner-up.
Plus, she also won the Miss Photogenic award.
Congratulations, Lou Wella Bernasor!
Congratulations too to my friend, Marvin "Dudoy" Mendoza, the extremely proud boyfriend. Goodluck on being a "stage boyfriend!"
Dudoy told me Pasay people will make her join the upcoming Mutya ng Pilipinas now.
Kudos, Lou Wella!

Of Hospitals and Ages-Old Hearts and Grandmas
Monday, December 3, 2007I’ve been in and out of room 327 of the Manila Adventist Medical Center (MAMC) since Thursday last week. I even slept there several nights–Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday nights.
Ina, my 94-year old grandma, was brought there last Thursday for congestive heart failure (CHF). She lives in Baler, Aurora so the trip to the hospital took several hours. Upon arrival, she was hooked up to an oxygen mask and tank. They also put her on dextrose.
For someone who’s just four and a half years short of being a century old, she sure doesn’t look her age. Nor does she think and talk like most senior citizens these days. She’s still quite sharp–just a little hard of hearing.
Thankfully, she’s been up and out of the hospital since around 11:30 A.M. yesterday. She’s staying at my aunt and uncle’s house now in Baesa.
Thank you, Jesus!
