my rants and raves;
my public and private TFEs . . .
Anything and everything
(significant or insignificant) that breeze through my mind . . .

Bandwidth Test Results: Who’s Reliable?
Tuesday, April 15, 2008Tsk, tsk. I’ve proven PLDT’s utter unreliability with our past experiences with them.
This is like shouting at me what I already know so well–PLDT just can’t be trusted:
PLDT bandwidth speed test #1

Certainly surfers’ heaven!
Can’t see the teeny weeny photo? Here’s the URL where I uploaded the photo:

(The link function for my i.ph blogs still don’t work . . . . )

They’re taken just several seconds apart.
Compare PLDT’s results with these from SpeedTest, taken at almost the same moment as the PLDT ones were.

Well, I got a plan that’s supposed to give me up to 2 MBPS . . . At least SpeedTest’s test results are consistent.
(+) Attitude = Happiness
My aunt sent me a carbon copy of this in her e-mail to my uncle. I just love the message and thought you’d all appreciate it as well:
There once was a woman who woke up one morning,
looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
‘Well,’ she said, ‘I think I’ll braid my hair today."
So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror
and saw that she had only two hairs on her haid.
‘H-M-M,’ she said,
‘I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.’
So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed
that she had only one hair on her head.
‘Well,’ she said, ‘today I’m going
to wear my hair in a pony tail.’
So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed
that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.
‘YAY!’ she exclaimed.
‘I don’t have to fix my hair today!’
Attitude is everything.
Name-Googling
Tuesday, April 8, 2008Yes, yes, yes. I do google my name from time to time. Why? Well, sometimes I just feel like googling and don’t really have anything in mind to google. Though sometimes, I just google my name to check–the last time I did there was a porn site linked to it.
Last Friday, I once again googled for my name. To my surprise, I found this blog with a link to my blogs. The author included my name in a list of 366 Filipino Bloggers. I felt somewhat flattered to have been included in a list with popular and more serious bloggers.
Here’s the URL for the site:

From Auto to Manual
I’m now into experiments using manual settings with my Nikon D80.
Links to my "experiments." Unfortunately, I can’t get the automatic link to work. Check out these URLS for more of my photos:

When Inspiration Hits M.E.

Last week I was inspired to create an AVP for my friend, Vangie. (She’s here on a three-week vacation from the US with her husband and three kids. Their going back to Chicago tomorrow.) The first time she left (January or February last year) I used PowerPoint to make an AVP for her. This time I decided to try my hand at Adobe Flash although I don’t know how to use and although that was the very first time I did. I was able to lay the pictures and the music down. I just still don’t how to create a smoother transition between photos. I was thinking what text to put at the end of the AVP when I suddenly felt inspired to write a yet untitiled poem. I’m posting it below. I’m just excited to share it ’cause not only am I a non-writer, I’m also a non-poet. Let me know what you think:
Alas, time flies
and part again we must
But time is short
and distance hinders not
For friendships true
wax strong and wait
Keep each other close
in God’s bosom through prayers
And as we wait
til time gives chance again
of each other’s joys to partake
Let us work and live
and love and give
and keep on growing
in God’s grace
Where’er our calling takes us,
where’er He may lead,
faith in God and in each other
will keep our souls ablaze
til on His appointed time,
each other we may face.
