House tackles proposal to create Angara town

WOW. How soon before they start proposing to change the name of the province from AURORA to Angara? (Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.) I’ve been hearing from different sources since last May 2008 that about 65-70% of the province has already been bought by the family. Are those just rumors? Or are they in fact the disgusting reality? And if what I’ve been hearing is indeed the truth, how did they get around the laws of the land? . . . Wait. Was that a stupid question? They are, after all, lawyers. Hmmm . . . .

Just a thought. Since most of the municipalities start with “Di-,” why don’t just “respect the culture,” follow suit, and call it “Diangara.?” . . . or perhaps calling it Quezon would be better. Maria Aurora might be feeling too lonely with her husband far, far away (Quezon province).

Aurora province municipalities: Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Dipaculao, Casiguran, Maria Aurora, San Luis, Baler.

Personally, I think it would be a nobler thing to just focus on getting all the major roads all across the province of Aurora up to par (at the very least) with those in other provinces first. Then, when they’re all cemented (or at least not the Marlboro Country type they are now), perhaps they could, with dignity intact, propose to name something in honor of their dead relative.

The father-and-son tandem of Senator Edgardo Angara and Rep. Juan Eduardo is pushing for the passage of a bill that will create a ninth municipality in Aurora province and jumpstart its development.

House Bill 3255, creating a municipality to be named after Lt. Gov. Juan C. Angara from nine remote towns, is now pending before the House committee on local government chaired by Negros Oriental Rep. George Arnaiz.

The measure stated that establishing the municipality will enable residents of the barangays to chart their own destiny.

Critics have slammed the proposal, claiming it will just perpetuate the Angaras as a political dynasty and it would divide this town which is not an Angara bailiwick.

Senator Angara said the new municipality is named in honor of his father’s service to the province as the longest serving mayor of Baler under the Commonwealth and lieutenant governor of the sub-province of Aurora. “If you will not name the new town after him, after whom will you have it named?” he asked.

He also said the barangays covered by the measure have long been neglected. The current Aurora governor is the senator’s sister, Bellaflor Angara-Castillo. Ferdie G. Domingo

Religion that Saves

Religion will not save you. Salvation is found IN CHRIST ALONE. (Acts 4:12) However, religion is like a road map which may or may not help you reach your final destination. Some outrightly mislead others; some are more subtle–thus requiring us to be more cautious and discerning. 

If we would not be deceived and led down the wrong path, we must firmly adhere to have the Bible (and the Bible only) speak to us as the direct Word of God. In truth, it is the only book that is actually claimed by God as His own. If we are to know the truth about God, about Jesus, about life on earth, death, and eternal life, then we must soak our minds and our hearts in His Word.

At the start and finish of our Bible reading (and study), we should pray–for guidance; for understanding; for strength to apply the truths we have found. 

Upon knowing God’s truths, we should later seek a religion, denomination, or church whose members “keep the commandments of God (yes, ALL TEN OF THEM!) and the faith of Jesus.” (Revelation 14:12) “No man is an island” and fellowshipping with those who similarly cling to God’s revealed truths will help with our fortify Christian growth; help fortify our souls against the snares and attacks of the enemy; and bring pleasure to our Christian experience. 

My NWB and Blogging

For some reason, I have avoided blogging for several months now. At first I thought it was a mere case of my non-writers’ block (NWB) kicking in as usual. But then I started thinking, just last night, as to the probable cause of that. It hit me that I have actually been avoiding thinking–self analyzing and digging up deeper-seated reasons for my TFEs.

Perhaps I was in a carefree mode and just didn’t want to be burdened with the excess baggage of my more serious thoughts. But that couldn’t possibly be it either since I have been doing a lot of thinking too, as it has always been my habit to do so–not necessarily of serious things; sometimes of the more trivial kind, too. Like I mentioned in a prior blog, I blame my hyperactive sense of curiousity on my early (and high) dosage of Nancy Drew and Encyclopedia Brown mystery stories and books. 

Maybe it was a mere laziness to write or type down my thoughts. Maybe I should buy a recorder and just voice them out and then just transcribe them at a later time. 

I just know I have to think some more about my NWB problem–particularly on its causes and most especially its probable “cure” as I already very well know the havoc of its effect in my life. It not only keeps me from blogging, it also sometimes keeps me from doing and/or writing things that I should be doing and/or writing. And during such times, I probably would not be able to write–even if my life depended on it. Or so it seems to me.
