Interesting stuff (to ME at least) from here, there, and everywhere written by everybody except ME.

4 Quadrants of BPD

February 15, 2007

When talking with a borderline you should think of an imaginary quadrant.

1st Quadrant are the words: "I'm great, I'm perfect, I'm wonderful."

2nd Quadrant are the words: "I'm rotten, I'm bad, I'm horrible."

3rd Quadrant are the words: "You are perfect, you are great, you are wonderful."

4th Quadrant are the words: "You are rotten, you are bad, you are horrible."

At any given moment your BPD will be in two of these quadrants - one relating to themself and the other relating to you. Your task is to work out which quadrants are being used before you start dealing with any major issues.
